Description
About the Book
Public policy lies at the heart of state action, institutional accountability, and societal transformation, yet translating legislative intent into meaningful public outcomes remains one of the defining challenges of contemporary governance. This Public Policy Youth Fellowship (PPYF) – Anthology of Public Policy Perspectives underscores the vital role of critical inquiry, systems thinking, and participatory research in bringing marginalized public issues into the policy domain. Originating from an intensive masterclass series convened by the IMPRI Impact and Policy Research Institute, New Delhi, under its #WebPolicyLearning framework, this volume documents rigorous policy briefs developed by young professionals and researchers engaging directly with senior administrators, scholars, and policy practitioners.
Moving beyond static theory and top-down statutes, the book bridges policy design with the complex institutional realities of implementation, administrative capacity, and resource allocation. The fellows’ research addresses urgent, multifaceted governance issues—ranging from algorithmic accountability, undertrial detention, and migrant worker vulnerabilities to food safety labelling, tobacco control, mental health, and social-sector spending. It simultaneously engages with macro-developmental trajectories, evaluating future-ready learning under NEP 2020, decentralized economic models aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, and the imperatives of a just transition in climate and economic planning.
At its core, this volume emphasizes the need to equip emerging scholars, practitioners, civil servants, researchers, and policymakers with the critical perspectives and analytical tools required to engage with the evolving challenges of public administration through an evidence-based, people-centred lens. By fostering reflective dialogue and interdisciplinary learning, the book contributes to ongoing efforts to cultivate policy literacy and nurture a generation of leaders dedicated to equity, democratic accountability, and the public good.
